Wang Ximeng (王希孟1096-1119) was a brilliant court painter in the Northern Song dynasty. Little is known about Wang Ximeng's life. He began his career as a painting apprentice at the imperial court during his teenage years. Initially, he made slow progress, but the artistic Emperor Huizhong recognized his potential and provided him with direct instruction in the art of painting. Unfortunately, Wang Ximeng passed away a few years later, leaving behind only one breathtakingly beautiful painting, 'Thousands Li of Rivers and Mountains,' which has since enshrined him as one of the most celebrated Chinese painters in history
